I have a confession to make, it wasn’t until I nearly ruined my deck that I decided to invest in a grill mat to protect it! I’m hoping that you have found this article before you have decided to grill on and potentially stand the chance of ruining your deck.

Even if you aren’t particularly worried about the aesthetics of you deck you might be still considering buying one just to save up on the clean up afterwards, when the aftermath of your barbecue is splattered oil and sauce all over the floor. [Which obviously could also turn into a fall hazard if someone slips in it].

Deck mats are reasonably inexpensive so if you are having grill outs on your deck it really does pay to get yourself a BBQ mat as soon as possible.

This grill mat by Montana Grilling Gear is pretty good. The thing that caught my eye is the fact that it isn’t made out of any harmful chemicals, so it’s doing a good thing for the environment. It is made with PVC-free fabric.

Non-Leak Design

While it isn’t made from harmful chemicals or anything along those lines, this doesn’t mean that it lacks quality. This mat is capable of protecting your deck from unwanted spills and stains due to the non-leak design.

Easy to Wash

When it all comes down to it, you want your grill mat to look new and clean for as long as possible. This is easy, because washing it is quick and easy. You can wash it by hand if you want, or you could simply pick up the water hose and hose it down. For more complicated stains, I recommend washing it by hand, but if it doesn’t have any stains on it, a water hose will work just fine.

Absorbs

This mat absorbs and collects liquids that fall on the mat. I like the absorbency feature, because this is going to help prevent oil from getting on your feet and tracked around your patio or desk. It is also going to eliminate the worry of slipping on spills.

Protective

When you use your barbeque on your desk or patio, this is going to leave it vulnerable to grease and oil stains. However, this doesn’t mean that you cannot use your barbeque on your patio or deck. With this grill mat, you can save your patio or deck from those grease stains. All you have to do is put this mat under your grill (you can also place it under a griddle) in order to protect the area under the grill from getting damaged.

Fasmov Grill Mat for Gas or Electric Grill

Another mat that you could choose is the Fasmov grill mat – it can be used with gas and electric grills. It will help prevent wood, cement, and composite decking from getting stains and spills that have a tendency to pop up while you’re grilling.

Personally, I like the appearance of the Fasmov grill mat. It’s made of neutral charcoal material that will look great with most grills on any type of surface.

Storage

At the end of the season, if you don’t plan on using your grill anymore, you can roll this mat up (it’s easy to do) and store it away for next season.
