Broil King vs Weber

Weber is a name that nearly everyone in America has heard of – this is a top-selling brand that most people automatically consider when they’re looking for a new grill, and what’s funny is some consumers don’t even take time to make a comparison when looking for grills for bbq…it really is that popular and for good reason.

Yes, it is a great grill, but sometimes, making a comparison really pays off. So, with those thoughts in mind, we’re going to do a little something different that some of my readers may have never thought of doing before – look at something other than Weber. Mind you, I’m not saying that Broil King is going to be more suitable for you than Weber, or vice versa, but I believe you should at least have some options.

When you’re out there comparing Broil King with Weber and trying to find the best BBQ gas grill you can get, you first need to decide upon the size that would be the most suitable for you – each grill will allow you to look at the square inches in the details.

If you’re thinking about one that is large in size, I’m guessing you’re the type that likes to hold big parties and cook yummy food for all of your guests. If you’re looking for medium or small, then you’re probably just looking to cook some food for your spouse and children.

The point is before you go out there and grab the first one you can get your hands on, you need to think about who you will be cooking food for.

Broil King Grills – an Overview

Broil King is an amazing brand that offers terrific grills. If you have never heard of this brand before, it actually surprises me, because Broil King actually dates back to the early 1900s, and today, they are one of the most trusted brands sitting next to Weber. Of course, they’re not as popular as Weber, but if you’re looking for the best gas bbq’s on the market, Broil King is definitely worth taking a look at.

Broil King did exactly as Weber did, they went for manufacturing top of the line gas grills. This isn’t another one of those manufacturers that imply base their products solely on marketing – it is obvious that this company goes out of their way in order to offer their consumers exactly what they need and that’s high-quality grills made out of one of the best materials (cast iron).

Yes, Weber is a brand that we’re sure you have heard of as it is one of the most popular brands currently on the market. This company has been in the business of making grills since the early 1950s and today, they’re still going strong. They make the top of the line grills that are reliable and this can be evidenced throughout the years.

They have many different grill designs that you can choose from, so whether you want a large one of a small one, Weber will have it. Along with offering different sizes, the company also has a variety of grills to choose from. Weber offers two popular series – Genesis and Spirit – these are differentiated by the technologies, structuring, and of course, their specifications.

Broil King vs. Weber

In order to make a comparison, I will need to pick two grills (one from both brands) and do a review on each one. In this particular case, I’m going to choose the Weber Genesis II S-435, and the Broil King Baron 490 – both of these grills are amazing.

Broil King vs. Weber – A Quick Look at the Baron 490

Broil King 922164 Baron 440 Liquid Propane Gas Grill

In this comparison of Broil King vs. Weber, zooming through the highlights of the Broil King 922184 Baron 490, you’ll discover exactly why I chose this grill – it has everything you’d expect a high-quality grill to have. It even has cast iron cooking grids, and we all know how good cast iron is to cook on. When cooking on cast iron, it won’t be hard to get those sweet looking sear marks! This grill also features a V-channel design on the reverse, which makes it easy for you to be able to baste foods in their own juices.

With the Baron 490, I believe you would be able to make the perfect steak or perfect hamburger – whatever you plan on cooking on it will turn out good. The patented stainless steel dual-tube burners combined with the Flav-R-Wave stainless steel cooking system brings the reality of grilling good food every time straight to life.

With this grill, you won’t have to worry about one spot being hotter or colder than the other spot – this grill offers an even cooking surface all the way across so that you can count on some mighty delicious results.

If you’re looking to cook something different, then don’t forget about the side burner – I must say, I love grills that have a side burner and I’m sure you know why (the more burners, the better). The side burner on this grill uses a total of 10,000 BTU so you can quickly heat up a yummy side dish or even your BBQ sauce (if you like to heat that up).

Not only does the Baron 490 have a handy side burner, but there’s also a rear rotisserie burner (15,000 BTU) and a Premium rotisserie kit is included with it. With this rotisserie burner, can you imagine the delicious, whole chickens you’ll be able to cook?

Moving and storing the Baron 490 is simple. It has four locking casters, and this includes 2 with a leveling feature so that you can ensure your grill is balanced. There are folding shelves so that you can reduce the footprint of the grill.

Now that you just learned about a grill from Broil King, the comparison of Broil King vs Weber wouldn’t be complete without a review on a grill made by Weber. When I was looking for a good grill for the Broil King vs Weber comparison, on the Weber side, I was stuck on the Weber Spirit gas grill and the Weber Genesis. While Weber Spirit is a great product, I feel that the Weber Genesis hasn’t gotten as much love as it should get, and that’s when I decided to push Weber Spirit to the side for a bit and introduce my readers to the Weber Genesis (but you may still want to look at the Weber Spirit during your free time).

The Weber Genesis II is the latest grill launched by Weber. If you’re looking for a grill that has a good number of burners and a functional cooking area, then this one right here might just be suitable for you. To be exact, this grill has a total of four burners, and a nice Sear Station and side burner to go along with it. These burners are made of stainless steel and have the capabilities of offering 48,000 BTU (that’s a whole lot of heating power if you ask me). Doing the math on this, and looking at the entire cooking area, you’ll get a nice 74 BTU of heat per hour per square inch (that’s pretty interesting).

As for the nice Sear Station burner (that comes in handy), it offers a total of 9,000 BTU, while the side burner offers 12,000 BTU, so you’ll be set with both of those.

Looking at the cooking area, I must say, you’re going to be happy with it. The cooking area offers a total of 646 square inches, but that’s not all! Due to the warming rack, you get an additional 198 square inches.

What I’m about to tell you next about this stainless steel grill is really cool …

This particular model has an app (yes, “there’s an app for that). Have you ever heard of the iGrill 3 app (if not, go ahead and look it up)? Through the app, you will be able to monitor the temperature straight from your mobile device. Just remember, you’ll have to purchase this accessory separately.

This model weight 176 pounds and it comes with the dimensions of 65x29x47 inches. Despite it all, the Genesis ii is a great grill with a nice square inch to it and amazing cooking area with lots of burners.

Conclusion

When looking for the best barbeque grill, whether it’s Broil King of Weber, it’s hard to choose. On one hand, you have Broil King (Broil King does an amazing job at making their grills) and on one hand, you have Weber. If you’re looking for a grill that has a lot of burners (who couldn’t use extra burners) and is compatible with an app, then the one produced by Weber might just be the one for you.

However, if you don’t care too much about the App, and you simply want an amazing grill with a good amount of square inches to cook on, then the best gas BBQs for you would be the ones that come from Broil King. Mind you, this doesn’t mean that Broil King takes home the prize and wins this comparison – in my book when it comes to Broil King vs Weber, there’s no “one-size-fits-all” winner here. For one person, Weber may win the prize, for the other, Broil King may win the prize and with that said, I’m going to leave the decision up to you.
