ThermoPro TP20 vs ThermoPro TP08

When it comes to cooking meat, temperature accuracy is super important, especially if you’re smoking meat. You took all that time to find the best smoker you could find, so it would be a good idea to take the extra steps and find a good thermometer as well. Looking at the market, you will find a wide variety of thermometers and they all come with their own set of features.

In this article, we’re going to take a look at two of my favorite thermometers – the ThermoPro TP20 and the ThermoPro TP08.

ThermoPro TP08 Wireless Thermometer

ThermoPro TP-08 Wireless Remote Digital Cooking Meat Thermometer Dual Probe for Grilling Smoker BBQ Food Thermometer - Monitors Food from 300 Feet Away With the ThermoPRP TP-08 wireless remote digital meat thermometer, you’ll feel as if you’re cooking like a professional each and every time. This thermometer gives you the opportunity to cook and monitor both the oven and meat temperature. You can monitor it from 300 feet away, which is a feature that really caught our attention. With this thermometer, there will be no need to get up and sit back down just to check on the meat, so if you’re talking with your friends, watching a movie, or anything else, there’s no need to stop what you’re doing in the middle of it all. Once the meat is ready, the alarm will go off letting you know that it is ready.

Setup

Setting the thermometer up is as easy as can be. The transmitter and receiver have been pre-synchronized by the manufacturer, so you won’t have to waste your time trying to synch/pair the product. All you have to do is insert the batteries (batteries are included) and the product will be ready to use.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the key features of the Thermopro tp20 …

Temperatures – you can manually set your own temperatures. If the temperature goes above or below the range you have selected, the receiver will flash and beep.

Timer – There’s a count up and countdown timer, which is something that many people like. When the unit has been powered off, the timer and temperature settings will be saved.

Transmitter – The transmitter has a wire that you can either use as a stand or hook on the oven door.

Lost – There’s a lost link alert for those times where your memory just isn’t working.

Range – This remote thermometer has a range of 300 feet.

ThermoPro TP-08 Wireless Remote Digital Cooking Meat Thermometer Dual Probe for Grilling Smoker BBQ Food Thermometer - Monitors Food from 300 Feet Away

Following the ThermoPro TP08, you have the ThermoPro TP20, and both of them have been labeled “the best” meat thermometers.

ThermoPro TP20 Wireless Remote Digital Meat Thermometer

ThermoPro TP20 Wireless Remote Digital Cooking Food Meat Thermometer with Dual Probe for Smoker Grill BBQ Thermometer

The ThermoPro is a great meat thermometer that will have you cooking like a pro. You see, as I stated in the beginning, if you want to have a meal that is perfectly cooked, then this will normally require some temperature monitoring. Regardless of what you’re cooking, whether you’re trying something new for the first time, or using a recipe from the families old cookbook, getting an accurate reading will deliver the best results. With the ThermoPro TP20, you can easily monitor the temperature while you watch television, do chores around the house, talk with guests or do whatever it is you like to do.

This wireless meat thermometer does a great job at keeping you updated on the temperature of the food you’re cooking. It is equipped with what is referred to as dual-probe technology. This means you will have the option of using two meat probes if you need to read the temperature of two portions of meat or use one as an oven probe. If you’re preparing for a casual dinner, cooking for the family, or prepping for a party, with this wireless digital meat thermometer, expect only the best results.

Now, let’s move forward and take a closer look at some of the best features of the ThermoPro TP20 …

No Synch Required – That’s right, no synch is required. Once you put the batteries in, it will be ready to use right out of the box.

Dual Probe – This feature will give you the opportunity to monitor two different lumps of meat or one meat and the smoker/oven/grill temp at the same time.  The probe cables can withstand temps up to 716 degrees F.

Set Temperature – You can manually code in your own temperature settings. The timer and temperature settings will be saved when the thermometer is powered off.

Readings – This thermometer offers both Fahrenheit and Celsius readings.

Alarm – There’s an alarm alert that will let you know when the food has reached the preferred temperature.

Preset – This thermometer is preset for 9 different meat types.

Included in the package:

  • 1 Digital Thermometer Transmitter
  • 1 Digital Thermometer Receiver
  • 4 AAA Batteries
  • 2x Food/Oven Temperature Probe
  • 1 Manual

ThemoPro TP-08 Vs ThermoPro TP20

Now, let’s put the two thermometers side by side and take a look at the similarities and the differences …

Similarities of the Two

  • ThermoPro has an amazing customer support team
  • Dual probes
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Digital, remote, and wireless functionality
  • Both the transmitter and the receiver have been pre-synced at the factory
  • Setup is easy and hassle-free. Both are ready out of the box, all you have to do is add the batteries.

Differences Between the ThermoPro TP-08 and the ThermoPro TP20

TP-08

  • This one has temperature alarms that are lower.
  • Due to the low-temperature alarms, the TP-08 is better to use for smoking meats.
  • Does not have up and down arrows. If you go past the temperature as you’re setting the alarm, you’ll have to restart.

TP20

The TP20 has higher temperature alarms.

This one actually features up and down arrows, so you can easily decrease and increase the temperatures.

Higher End Model – There are more features with this model.

These products are not waterproof, so you shouldn’t use them around any liquid as this will result in faulty readings. This means the cable and the probe cannot be used in the dishwasher. You will need to wash them by hand with soap and hot water and make sure you dry them properly before you store them.

Conclusion

Some will like the ThermoPro TP08, while others that crave more bells and whistles will prefer the ThermoPro TP20. We went out of our way to do some research to save you some time. Now, choosing between the two is up to you. Every amateur, master, or chef requires a good thermometer in order to make sure the meals are perfect. I hope you found this review useful in helping you choose the best thermometer.
