Inflatable Hot Tub & Spa Reviews

Inflatable Hot Tub Reviews

A Hollywood lifestyle of being able to go out and relax in a spa or a hot tub sounds really nice …that really is a millionaire’s dream. In movies, we watch millionaires soaking in their hot tub as they sip an expensive bottle of wine and listen to upbeat music – many of us want to do that, but don’t have thousands of dollars to make those Hollywood dreams come true.

Your Guide to The Best Inflatable Hot Tubs

The other day, during our research, we came across inflatable hot tubs and at first, we thought it was a big gimmicky ….we thought a blow-up spa just wouldn’t live up to its expectations of giving us all the Holiday lifestyle we longed for.

However, after clicking through a wide array of information, we came to a conclusion – a blow up hot tub doesn’t sound so bad at all, at least, not to us.

What about you?

Would a soft tub be enough for you?

Let’s be fair – we have compiled all of the research you need – read through it first, then determine if an inflatable hot tub would be suitable for you.

In this guide, you’re going to find the pros and cons of owning an inflatable hot tub, then we are going to tell you about the 7 best inflatable hot tubs we chose (number 4 is our favorite).

The Pros and Cons of an Inflatable Hot Tub

When it comes to inflatable spas, there are many positive and negative considerations that you must take in mind. Factors such as your particular tastes, specific situation, and how/when the hot tub will be used will help you make the perfect decision on which one to purchase. The following are the pros and cons of an inflatable spa to weigh in on during the buying procedure.

Pros

Save Money

On average, do you know how much people spend on an in-ground hot tub? It’s normally between $15,000 to $20,000. Even those of us that have good jobs aren’t able to afford that all at once – that’s a whole lot of money. When you look at an inflatable hot tub, you’re going to be shocked with the price – for a good-quality hot tub, the price will start at $300. Yes, $300 …we didn’t forget to put a “0” at the end of that.

Using it Seasonally

Some choose to use their spa seasonally, which is fine because this way, there’s no maintenance required. For those that plan on using a hot tub only during the summer months, an inflatable hot tub would be a good option.

Can be Used Indoors or Outdoors

You can enjoy your hot tub outdoors in your own backyard during the summer months if you like. Then, when those cold winter months hit, you can bring it indoors (just makes sure your floor is capable of holding it).

Additional Cushioning

When you think of a blow-up hot tub, what do you picture? Don’t picture a soft, flimsy pool toy – it’s nothing like that. If you get the opportunity to use one, you’re going to be surprised at how sturdy it is. These spas do have that “softer” feel to them and personally, we find this much better than sitting on hard plastic or concrete …it’s more relaxing.

Portability

Of course, an inflatable spa is going to be portable. This means, if you choose to use it in different locations, you’re going to be pleased with this feature.

Save Energy

When you compare an inflatable tub to a permanent one, you’ll realize just how much money you’re going to be saving on electricity. Most inflatable tubs won’t go over 120 volts in an electrical outlet. Point blank, the running costs of a blow-up tub is lower than the traditional hot tubs.

Cons

As we’ve always said, where there are pros, no matter how good or popular the product may be, if you take a close look and really comb through it, you’re going to find some problems.  In this case, we only found a couple of issues that are worth mentioning.

No Structured Seating

Have you ever set in a pre-fabricated hot tub? If so, you’re probably familiar with the built-in bucket seats. Unfortunately, with the inflatable tubs, you’re not going to have built-in seats. However, as we mentioned, the entire tub offers soft cushioning, so in all actuality, while built-in bucket seats would have been nice, it’s really not needed.

The Time it takes to Heat Up

The amount of time it takes to heat up will all depend on the product you buy, however, they all have electric heaters (not gas). So, the amount of time it takes the portable spa to heat up in comparison to the amount of time it takes the traditional spas to heat up will be longer. After about one hour, the water temperature will increase by 2 or 3 degrees. If you plan on setting the tub up and using it for a long period of time, then this isn’t going to be a downfall. However, if you just want to use it during the weekends, you need to schedule the set-up one day in advance so that the water will be fully heated.

An Introduction to the Top Rated Inflatable Spas

(and one non-inflatable, yet portable spa)

Coleman Lay Z Spa Inflatable Hot Tub – Most Economic for those on a Budget

If you’re on a small budget, yet you really want to live it up like the guys and girls in Hollywood, then the Coleman Lay Z Spa Inflatable Hot Tub might just be a viable option for you.

Almost everyone we know is familiar with the Coleman name – they have been market dominators in sporting, outdoor and recreational products for many years. Since they have been around for so long, consumers know the can trust the Coleman Company for ease of use, sturdy construction, long-lasting in each and every one of their products and inflatable hot tubs are no exception.

Here, with the traditional Coleman green, we have the Lay-Z Spa Inflatable Hot Tub offering an amazing spa experience for a small amount of money. If you’re wanting to pamper yourself or simply hang out with your loved one or your friends in a spa and you don’t have a lot of money to spend, then this would be a great place to start.

Features

Easy set-up, portability, and warm soothing bubbles is what this spa is all about – yes, you have all of that packed in one box. Even if you simply want to soak for 20 minutes, when you step out of this tub, you’re going to feel rested and rejuvenated.

Just take a look at the features of this spa …

Lay-Z-Massage System – This right here is the highlight of the tub. It’s a hydro massage system that is powered by a total of 120 bubble jets.

Digital Control Panel – On the top of the spa, you have a digital control panel that can control all of the features of the hot tub – it controls the temperature, activates the bubbles and locks the control panel.

Mosaic Print Pool Liner – This spa has a nice mosaic print pool liner complete with a convenient drain valve.

Integrated Water Filtration – The filtration system is responsible for keeping the water clean and it even comes with two extra filters. When you activate the heating system, the filtration system will automatically restart. When you turn the heating system off, the filtration system will continue to operate.

Insulated Cover – This hot tub comes with an insulated cover with an aluminum foil coating that helps to keep the debris out while maintaining the heat.

The downfall would be the amount of time it takes the heat the water, even with the rapid heating system. This is a downfall that almost all of the inflatable tubs are going to have.  In 24 hours, the water will heat up to a maximum of 104 degrees. Some have reported that filling it with hot water to start off will raise the temperate in only six hours, but if you take this route, you’ll be spending more money on hot water.

All in all, when you look at the price of the inflatable spa, the tub is pretty good.

SaluSpa Paris AirJet Inflatable hot tub (LED Light Display Spa)

If you’re not so sure about the Coleman spa, then you may be interested in the SaluSpa Paris AirJet Inflatable hot tub. Currently, this is one of the most beautiful tubs on the market due to the impressive LED lighting system. Not only does it have a lighting system that is out of the world, it also has numerous air jets and of course, a rapid heating system. Will this be the one you want? Let’s move forward and take a look at it …

Features

The Bestway Lay Z Spa Paris Inflatable Hot Tub comes with some unique features of its kind. We’ve already noted some key features of this model in the former part, now we will have a definitive look at all of them.

Rapid Heat System – The rapid heating system is worth mentioning. It has a timer. For example, if you would like your tub to be ready by 8pm, you should select the timer to be turned on a couple of hours before so that it will be ready. Once it reaches your desired heat, it will maintain the temperature for as long as you need.

Air Jets and Massage System – We definitely cannot skip past the air jets and massage system! It has a total of 87 air jets all around it. These bubbles will help your muscles relax.

LED Lighting – As we mentioned in the beginning, the LED lighting makes this spa look beautiful. The lights range from a romantic red to a soothing blue.

The downfall here is also the heating system and the amount of time it takes to heat up when you first set it up. Also, the LED lights are built into the spa itself, which is something many don’t like.

All in all, this is a good spa and is definitely worth every dollar.

The Intex Pure Spa

Third, on the list of the top inflatable spas, we have the Intex Pure Spa, which we must say, is quite pleasing to the eyes. With this one right here, you can pamper yourself, without breaking your bank! The Intex spa has features you would expect to pay thousands of dollars for! Is this the one for you? Let’s continue forward and find out …

Features

Digital Control Panel  – Through the digital control panel, you will be able to select the desired temperature and turn the bubble sprays on and off. Mind you, these aren’t muscle-pounding jets, but they are gentle bubbles that make for a nice pleasant experience.

Heat Pump – The heat pump will warm your water to 104 degrees.

Insulated Cover – The insulated cover will make sure debris stay out of your spa and it will also help keep the water warm. You can snap the cover in place using the sturdy self-locking system.

Soft Surface – The soft surface on the bottom will help you relax and enjoy the tub. The soft material makes it easy to get in the tub.

One complaint we found (besides the 24 hour heat up) with this product was the bubble system – it’s a bit on the loud side. However, you can still talk to the person relaxing next to you.

All in all, this one right here is a pretty good inflatable spa that is highly recommended.

SaluSpa Miami AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub

By now, you’re probably ready to just chill in a nice hot tub, but we have four more portable hot tubs you should take a look at before you make your decision. Right here, we have the SaluSpa Miami AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub- if you’re looking for something a bit more fancy, this one right here might be a viable option for you …

The Miami is one of the most economic blow-up spa models from Bestway and you can get it for a really competitive price

Features

Bubbles – The bubbles do a nice job of offering a nice light massage.

Digital Controls – This one also uses a digital control system that lets your water reach 104 degrees. When you’re inside the tub, through the digital control system, you can adjust the temperature of your water.

Fits Four – It can fit up to four people.

The one downfall we found has to do with the heater. It seems as if the heater isn’t able to cope with colder temperatures, so you won’t be able to use it outside during the cold winter months, unless, of course, you live in a place like Miami. However, you can use it inside all year long.

So there you have it, another nice portable spa that it affordable for the average person.

SaluSpa Palm Springs AirJet Inflatable 6-Person Hot Tub

Here we are, staring at another possibility – the SaluSpa Palm Springs AirJet Inflatable 6-Person Hot Tub. Looking at the features, to us, it seems to be the same unit as the Coleman Spa system, which isn’t a bad thing. However, apart from having a different brand (SaluSpa), it features a nicer color scheme.

Features

The SaluSpa Palm Springs is the same size as the Coleman Spa we told you about in the beginning and has the same heater and pump system. It is even made of the same materials as the Coleman Spa.

Rapid Heating – The maximum heat capability of this spa is 104 degrees F.

Easy to Use – The digital control panel makes the spa easy to operate. It even has a useful start/stop timer to control the heating system.

Sits Up to 6 People – That’s right, with the 77” x 28” 242-gallon water capacity, this portable hot tub can fit up to six people, which is good news if you plan on having friends over to relax with you.

Easy to Inflate – Using the spa’s pump, you can easily inflate the spa – you don’t need any additional tools.

Looking through the reviews online, we found a user that had a problem with the pump. However, to date, no other user had this type of problem.

Lifesmart 400DX 5-Person Rock Solid Plug and Play Spa

A Top of the range model for those ‘wanting to splash out’ excuse the pun!

5 or 7 person

If you’re looking forward to enjoying a nice spacious spa that can seat up to 7 people, then the Lifesmart Rock Solid Luna Spa might just be for you. It comes with a thick cover and complete foam installation all packed in a sturdy shell and it is much more spacious than many of the other inflatable spas on the market.

There are also some really good features that you should know about. Let’s take a closer look at this spa and learn about the key features …

Features

Sturdy Rock-Solid Shell – We cannot look past the sturdy rock-solid shell, it definitely makes the product worth it. The sturdiness of the shell is what is really catching people’s eyes. Plus, along with this, there’s a 5-year warranty. The shell is nearly indestructible and has been designed to withstand any harsh climate condition. With this one right here, you don’t have to think twice about putting it outside.

The Design – The design of this product is something else that is worth mentioning – it has one of the coolest spa designs currently on the market. With a dimension of 70 x 66 x 29 inches, there is more than enough seating. Due to the deeper seating, the spa is more comfortable. The spa also comes with a high-quality cover and the air mixing valves make for a soothing massage.

12 Jets – There’s a total of 12 jets, so you will have a fine spa experience. The jets are adjustable and powerful.

LED Lights – The built-in LED lights add to the attraction. Along with the temperature, the LED lights can be adjusted using the controls.

Eco Smart Technology – The eco-smart technology will help you save money on your utility bill. This, along with the complete foam insulation and the cover will definitely help you save money.

The one downfall we found with this product would be the size, which we don’t really view as a downfall. However, if you are limited on space in your yard, you may want to go for something that is smaller in size.

All in all, this one right here is a great option, especially if you’re looking for something that will seat up to 7 people and don’t mind the large size.

Comfort Line Products Spa-N-A-Box Portable Spa

The Comfort Line Products Spa-N-A-Box Portable Spa is the last one on our list. Mind you, this one isn’t an inflatable hot tub, but it is still portable and doesn’t cost as much as the traditional spas. So, you will still be able to live that Hollywood lifestyle, without breaking your bank account.

The Comfort Line Spa-N-A-Box has been designed to offer a nice relaxing experience with the hydro-therapeutic massage.

Unlike the inflatable tubs we just told you about, this one has cedar wood panels that slide together. Don’t worry, the set-up is still easy, so you can do it yourself. The wood panels slide together onto a metal frame, then you simply place the liner into the frame and fill it with water – yes, it really is that easy.

We’re not sure if you’re familiar with the healing benefits of hydrotherapy or not, but they’re amazing and as ancient as time itself. Simply by relaxing in warm water that is gently swirling, you will receive the following rejuvenating effects:

  • Promotes Productivity
  • Increases Blood Circulation
  • Soothes Tight Muscles
  • Stimulates Endorphin Production

Features

Top-Sided Digital Temperature Readout – These controls make it easy to operate the spa and set the water temperature.

Cedar Panels – The custom-built redwood stained cedar panels make the spa look beautiful. This is the type of beauty that isn’t found in those inflatable plastic or acrylic spas.

Turbo Wave Blows – This has a one horsepower turbo wave blower with 127 micro-air jets, so you can’t really go wrong here. These hot tub bubbles offer agitator action around the wall of the spa.

Water Filtration System – The spa has a 24-hour water filtration system that is worth mentioning. This means your water will stay clean at all times.

Comfortable Padding – At the bottom of the spa, there’s comfortable padding that is soft and cushioned, which is much better than the hard acrylic that is found in traditional hot tubs.

Can Be Used in All Temperatures – If you live in a state that has a harsh winter that is fine, there’s no need to pack it up, unless you want to. This hot tub is capable of withstanding even the harshest of weather conditions.

The downfall we found would be the setup. It’s not like the inflatable spas that you can have set up within 15-20 minutes. While the manufacturer states this spa can be set up within 30 minutes or less, there are some reviewers that state otherwise. In fact, some people say it can take up to two hours because there is a lot to set-up – there’s a lot of pieces that you have to put together carefully. Personally, we feel this is understandable because it’s not an inflatable hot tub and once it’s put together, you can leave it up.

Benefits of Using Inflatable Spa Hot Tubs

Yes, in the beginning of this guide, we gave you a list of benefits of using inflatable hot/spa tubs, but we felt the need to give you some more ….

  • Offers a nice bonding moment
  • Amuses kids when they’re bored (under adult supervision)
  • Can help little kids get used to the water
  • Offers many health benefits
  • Perfect way to relax after a hard day at work

Health Benefits of an Inflatable Hot Tub

As we mentioned, there are many different types of health benefits. Here’s a list of them:

  • Improved Sleep
  • Stress Relief
  • Sports Injury Recovery
  • Pain Relief
  • Diabetes Therapy

In Conclusion

Regardless of who you are, or where you live, you don’t have to pay thousands of dollars in order to enjoy a spa – spas aren’t just for celebrities and millionaires! If you really want to have a hot tub to relax in, but don’t have the money to spend, that is fine, because the inflatable hot tub makes it possible! Seriously, don’t let the “inflatable” word turn you away – these products we just reviewed for you are cheap in price, but they are certainly not cheap products.
